Warehouse Automation Robots

Source review: 2026-10

Short answer

Warehouse automation projects choose robot types by flow: goods-to-person for picking, tote handling for storage, autonomous pallet trucks for transport and sorting robots for parcels. Shortlist by flow, then compare payload, throughput assumptions, WMS integration and site requirements with the supplier using your own order data.

Unlike research robots, warehouse robots are bought as part of a system: fleet software, charging, integration with your warehouse management system and the site layout matter as much as each robot's specifications. Use the model pages to shortlist robot types, then request a site-specific proposal.

Components you need

Model combinations to shortlist

Goods-to-person and tote handling

Robots that bring storage to pickers or move totes.

Pallet transport and sorting

Autonomous pallet trucks and parcel sorting robots.

Common integration issues

WMS integration
Robots receive tasks from fleet software, which must exchange orders and inventory with your WMS. Ask which interfaces are supported and who builds the integration.
Site readiness
Floor flatness, markers, Wi-Fi coverage, charging locations and fire-code rules affect the project. Share a layout drawing early.
Local service
Fleets need maintenance and spare parts close to the site. Confirm the service model and response times for your country.

FAQ

Can I buy a few robots for a pilot?

Many suppliers offer pilots, but the fleet software, mapping and integration still need setup. Ask for the pilot scope, duration and the cost of scaling up.

What data should I send for a proposal?

A site layout, order and SKU profiles, throughput targets, operating hours and your WMS details.
